Researching Chicken Hill:

Stories, Artifacts, & Photographs Needed

The Rhodes Committee has been working on the preparation of an exhibit about Chicken Hill, Setauket.  Chicken Hill is the name of a 1 square mile area that surrounds the Methodist Church at Main Street and Route 25a.  At present, we are focusing on the 1930 to 1950 time period for the exhibit.  At that time, Chicken Hill was characterized by its multi-ethnicity; it included Lithuanians, Polish, Italians, African Americans, Native Americans, Jews, Catholics and Protestants.  Our ultimate hope is to develop a more complete history to include the nineteenth and twentieth century.
