Since its founding in 1964 it as been the Society’s mission to preserve the history of the area, especially the personal history residents have shared. A growing collection of family papers including letters, wills and other legal documents, photographs, account books, genealogies (published and unpublished), ephemera, school records, cemetery records, church records, etc. help to tell the individual’s story of the Three Villages. This collection can be accessed by appointment at the Captain Edward R. Rhodes Memorial Collection of Local History or if you have material you would like to donate reach us using the contact information below.
Databases
Among the unique databases available through the Society are a deed history of the Three Village Area and a genealogical database. Title searches have been conducted and recorded for properties in the area providing the homeowner or historian with a history of ownership for a particular parcel. The files are searchable by tax number, address or name. A genealogical database is being created, currently containing over 60,000 individual entries, tracing the ancestry and descendants of local families. Data is compiled from local genealogy publications, church records, cemetery records and tombstone inscriptions, primary source material, family and legal documents, etc. This ongoing project is useful in researching your own family history, property ownership or local history. Our volunteer compiler is always looking for sources of information. If you have been conducting research on your family we would be pleased to have a copy of your work to add to the collection for others to access and share with other family historians. Who knows you may find that long lost ancestor to add to your family tree.
If you would like to conduct research or have materials or information you would like to donate or share please call 631-751-4775 or email kmartin@tvhs.org.
