Saturday, September 11th, 10:30 a.m. Walk Through History with Abraham Woodhull. In this living history walk you will meet farmer and Revolutionary War Spy Chief Abraham Woodhull, portrayed by historian Beverly Tyler, who leads tour goers on a walk through the nature sanctuary that was once Woodhull's farm. Tour goers are introduced to the woods, fields, ponds and bays that tell the story of Long Island's colonization and settlement preceding the Revolution and the creation of the new nation. Walk lasts 2 1/2 hours and commences at the Caroline Church Carriage Shed (opposite the Setauket Village Green.) Fee: $5.00 per person/ $3 per person for TVHS Members.

Sunday, October 3rd, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Grand Opening of Spies! a new exhibit for children and adults at the Three Village Historical Society, 93 North Country Road, Setauket, NY. Enjoy our new exhibit featuring interactive software, hands on activities featuring writing in invisible ink with quill pens and decoding spy letters, and more! Check back soon for more details.
Monday, October 4th, Lecture and Lunch: The American Revolution on Long Island and in New York, sponsored by the Three Village Historical Society and the Center for Global and Local History, Stony Brook University. 10:30 a.m. Edward G. Lengel, Professor of History, University of Virginia and a Senior Editor with The Papers of George Washington Project, will present his lecture: George Washington, Spymaster. 12:00-1:00 p.m.- Buffet lunch. 1:15 p.m. Edwin G. Burrows, Professor of History, Brooklyn College, and a Pulitzer Prize-winning co-author of Gotham: A History of New York City to 1898, will present his lecture, The Prisoners of War of Occupied New York City, 1776-1781. On view through arrangement with Special Collections, Frank Melville Memorial Library, Stony Brook University, will be two original letters to the Culper Spy Ring, signed by George Washington on 24 September 1779 and 16 September 1780. Sunday, October 17th, 2:00 p.m.: Down the Ways Maritime Tour: this tour with historian Beverly Tyler explores the history of shipbuilding in Setauket. Tour lasts 2 hours and commences at the Setauket Dock, Shore Rd., E. Setauket. This tour will be conducted at low tide so that the bones of the schooners will be uncovered in Scott's Cove. 32nd Annual Candlelight House Tour - Friday December 3rd and Saturday December 4th. For thirty one years, the Three Village Historical Society has presented its Candlelight House Tour, a spectacular showcase of select local homes decked out in dazzling holiday finery by talented local decorators. The 2009 Candlelight House Tour will take place on Friday, December 3rd and Saturday, December 4th. The tour will feature grand homes replete with stunning architectural features, and customized interior design for the holidays.
All tickets to TVHS sponsored events are non-refundable.
